Palatine Road Closed at Kennicott for SUV vs Bicycle Accident Scene in Arlington Heights

Palatine Police Department assisted Arlington Heights Police late Wednesday night and early Thursday to close the intersection of Palatine Road and Kennicott for a prolonged period during an accident investigation. A 50-year-old Arlington Heights male cyclist was struck by a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero XL as he rode his bike southbound on Kennicott -- disobeying a red light at Kennicott at about 10:30 p.m. The Montero -- an SUV -- was eastbound driven by a 29-year-old woman.
The cyclist suffered a head injury and injuries to both legs. The traffic was diverted around the intersection until about 2:30 a.m. during investigation.
