Palatine Fire Department called an extra alarm about 12:45 p.m. for an apartment fire at 1327 North Winslowe near Palatine High School. The fire was through the roof from a third floor apartment and attic.

Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg fire departments assisted. A police officer was trapped for a short time. A second ambulance was requested to the fire scene.
